Wider Schild Story
This place is connected to a wider Schild surname story, not a confirmed part of our direct family line.
After his release from internment in February 1942, Erwin Schild settled in Toronto, resumed his studies at the University of Toronto and a local yeshiva, and was ordained as a rabbi.
He became rabbi of Adath Israel Congregation in 1947 and remained in Toronto for the rest of his long life, receiving the Order of Canada there in 2001 and dying in the city on January 6, 2024, at the age of 103.
