Wider Schild Story
This place is connected to a wider Schild surname story, not a confirmed part of our direct family line.
After his release from Dachau and his escape from Germany by way of the Netherlands, Erwin Schild reached Britain in the spring of 1939 and resumed his religious studies at a yeshiva in London.
In May 1940, British wartime policy classified him, a refugee from Nazi persecution, as an enemy alien, and he was deported to Canada. No photograph specific to Erwin’s time in London has been located for this archive.
