Wider Schild Story

This place is connected to a wider Schild surname story, not a confirmed part of our direct family line.

Cologne Mülheim is a district of Cologne on the right bank of the Rhine. Erwin Schild was born here on March 9, 1920, into the family of businessman Hermann Schild and his wife Hetti.

Nazi persecution through the 1930s gradually stripped ordinary Jewish families here of their place in the wider community, well before Erwin’s arrest and imprisonment at Dachau in November 1938.
